What is
Tattoo Removal?

Tattoo ink doesn't sit on the skin — it's embedded in the dermis, the deep layer of skin your body can't naturally shed. Laser tattoo removal is the only clinically validated method to reach it.

Our Q-switched Nd:YAG laser fires ultra-short, high-energy pulses that shatter ink particles into microscopic fragments. Your immune system then recognizes these fragments as foreign material and flushes them away through the lymphatic system over the following weeks.

With each session, the ink gets lighter. Depending on tattoo size, ink color, age, and placement, complete removal typically takes 6–12 sessions — spaced 6–8 weeks apart to allow full immune clearance between visits.

At LovMedSpa, pricing is determined by tattoo size: Small (up to 2"×2"), Medium (up to 4"×4"), and Large (anything above 4"×4"). Your provider will assess your specific tattoo at consultation and give you a realistic timeline and session estimate.

Permanent ink. Impermanent decision.

LovMedSpa uses a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser that delivers ultra-short, high-intensity pulses to shatter tattoo ink into microscopic particles — which your immune system then naturally flushes away over the following weeks.

Our laser system targets black, blue, red, and green inks effectively. Lighter colors like yellow, orange, and white are more resistant but can still be significantly faded. A consultation will give you a realistic picture of what's achievable for your specific tattoo.

No tattoo is removed in one session — ink is layered throughout the dermis and each session breaks down one layer at a time. Most tattoos require 6–12 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart to allow full immune clearance between visits.

After each session you can expect redness, swelling, and possible blistering in the treated area for a few days. The skin needs 6–8 weeks to fully clear the fragmented ink before the next session — this spacing is non-negotiable for safe, effective results.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before starting your tattoo removal journey at LovMedSpa.

How many sessions does tattoo removal take?

Most tattoos require 6–12 sessions for complete removal, spaced 6–8 weeks apart. The number depends on the tattoo's size, ink colors, age, depth, and placement. Older tattoos, professional work with heavy ink saturation, and colors like black and dark blue respond fastest. A realistic session estimate is given at your consultation.

Does tattoo removal hurt?

Each laser pulse feels like a sharp snap — similar to a rubber band — followed by a brief burning sensation. The discomfort is short-lived and tolerable for most clients. We apply topical numbing cream before each session, and for larger tattoos, additional numbing options are available.

What ink colors can be removed?

Black and dark blue inks respond best and can typically be fully cleared. Red, orange, and dark green respond well. Yellow, light green, light blue, and white are the most resistant colors and may only partially fade. Our laser uses multiple wavelengths to target the broadest range of ink colors possible.

Is there downtime after each session?

Expect redness, swelling, and potentially some blistering in the treated area for 3–7 days. The skin then crusts and heals over the following 1–2 weeks. You should avoid sun exposure, pools, and excessive sweating during the healing window. Normal activities can typically resume after 24–48 hours.

Why do I have to wait 6–8 weeks between sessions?

After each session, the fragmented ink particles are cleared by your immune system through the lymphatic system. This clearance process takes 6–8 weeks to complete. Treating again before this process finishes reduces effectiveness and increases risk of scarring. The spacing is non-negotiable for safe, optimal results.
